UPS Foundation Offers Critical Support for Hurricane Fiona Relief
With more than 7,200 centers of operation across the country, The Salvation Army has been able to provide a variety of emergency services to survivors and first responders in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Fiona’s devastation.
The UPS Foundation has joined the relief efforts, partnering to facilitate shipments of much-needed supplies to support those impacted by the hurricane.
On Sept. 21, UPS delivered 36 pallets of humanitarian supplies to the island where so many homes, roads, and communities have been devastated. So far, The Salvation Army has distributed more than 5,000 meals, 450 hygiene kits, and nearly 200 clean-up kits to those affected in Puerto Rico. Thanks to our wonderful partnership with UPS, together we can do so much more.
In partnership with UPS, more than 90 pallets and 50,000 pounds of clean-up kits, baby supplies, and blankets are now on their way to Puerto Rico. The UPS Foundation has also graciously donated $50,000 to The Salvation Army in support of the disaster response to Hurricane Fiona.
UPS will also be matching employee donations to support the recovery efforts, where donations will be divided between The Salvation Army and “Fundacion Sila M. Calderon” (Sila M. Calderon Foundation) which is a non-profit organization based in Puerto Rico that has served the community since 2008.
The Salvation Army’s longstanding partnership with UPS is a critical part of disaster relief efforts. We are grateful to UPS for helping us meet the need and love beyond natural disasters.
