UPS Employees in Five Cities Adopt 425 Children Giving Back with The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program
Working long hours well into the night, still, nothing can dampen the Christmas spirit for these Elves in brown
The idea grew from a suggestion to do a combined volunteer event this holiday season. UPS's Women in Operations Business Resource Group (BRG) is spreading holiday cheer across five cities in two states. Through the Angel Tree program, they have adopted 425 children and are determined to make their holidays brighter. The project, led by UPS Talent Manager LaShonda Crawford, the BRG recognizes the importance of giving back to the community. "It's so important for kids to receive something on Christmas," Crawford said. "You never know your impact. In the future, those kids could potentially be donors to the Angel Tree because someone helped them."
CW DeLong, Dallas, UPS On Road Supervisor, emphasizes the significance of this initiative. "Participating in the Salvation Angel Tree is our way of Delivering Smiles in the communities in which we serve," DeLong said. "Not only does every child deserve to have something to smile about on Christmas, but we give in hopes that one day that same child will give back and make another child smile."
Supervisor and Women in Operations Chair for Oklahoma, Corrie Moore shares the excitement of delivering these gifts to families in need. "It is definitely fun making this kind of a delivery," Moore said. "These families are part of our community, and it is a hard time of year for these kids. They deserve to have a good Christmas, and UPS is proud to be a part of that for them."
Through their efforts, UPS's Women in Operations BRG is not only bringing joy to 425 children, but also inspiring a cycle of giving and kindness within their communities. This is just one example of how UPS is committed to making a positive impact beyond their business operations.
