For their work in philanthropy and telling powerful stories of faith to the world, The Salvation Army awarded Museum of the Bible founders Steve and Jackie Green the Evangeline Booth Award, the highest award bestowed to individuals and organizations by The Salvation Army.

Museum of the Bible is an educational institution located in Washington, D.C. Through interactive exhibits, the museum offers an immersive experience with the impact and history of the Bible, welcoming millions of visitors since its grand opening in 2017.

“We are honored to receive this prestigious award,” Jackie Green said. “We hope that Museum of the Bible will have a positive societal impact as it fulfills its mission to invite all people to engage with the transformative power of the Bible, as we have seen with the influence of The Salvation Army and Evangeline Booth in our country.”

In addition to his role with the museum, Steve Green also serves as president of Hobby Lobby, an American retail company offering home and arts and crafts supplies. Green is also a national speaker for both business and philanthropy interests, focusing on the intersection of faith and his life endeavors.

Jackie Green is actively involved in philanthropic efforts with non-profit organizations around the country, as well as continuing to serve in different roles at Museum of the Bible and in her community. She is also a founder of Women of Legacy, an effort to help women discover and leave a meaningful legacy for future generations.

The Greens are also authors, publishing books that touch on family, faith and more. The Salvation Army is privileged to honor the Greens and pray their ministry will bless and inspire many more in the years to come.

“Thank you, Jackie and Steve Green, for inspiring us with your dedication to faith and service, and for Museum of the Bible,” said Commissioner Kenneth Hodder, National Commander of The Salvation Army.

In 1999, The Salvation Army’s National Commander established the Evangeline Booth Award to honor individuals, corporations and organizations who reflect the spirit, commitment, and innovative vision of Evangeline Booth. Since then, awards have been given for excellence and lifetime achievement in professions, philanthropic work, and societal impact.

The Evangeline Booth Award is presented to individuals and organizations dedicated to doing the most good in communities across the country. Previous award recipients include Kroger Family of Companies, America’s largest grocery retailer, and FedEx Corporation, who has a longstanding partnership with The Salvation Army facilitating relief efforts in times of disaster.
